A dead hickory tree fell down in my yard, which at first glance looked like a problem, but is now a blessing since we have plenty of firewood!



Hickory: a hardwood that burns for a long time. I have already burned a few pieces. Some sweet potatoes baked in a Dutch oven from burning a piece in my little wood stove. A single piece can burn for hours and provides enough heat to cook. The burn will be better when the wood dries a little more. The tree was already somewhat dry because the tree had died after bug damage and no rain.

I thank God for helping me prepare for the cold weather. This is another example of how all things work together for the good of those who love God.
