When Jesus was on top of the mountain he was transfigured and was as bright as the sun. With him were Moses and Elijah. There were three other men that witnessed this event: Peter, James, and John. Jesus did not keep this glory long. He returned to the state of his human body and descended the mountain to continue his ministry in appearance as other mortals: a weak man who would be killed on the cross.

This could be an image of the three main groups of the body of Christ:

1. The Bride, who is raptured (Jesus transfigured)
2. The rest of the body, who is left behind on Earth. (Jesus crucified)
3. The dead in Christ, who are in heaven. (Moses and Elijah)
