In a public forum, someone said the cross was pagan.

It is fitting that Jesus would be killed on a pagan symbol. The cross was not meant to bless him or give him life. His death was brutally painful. If you consider the cross a cursed symbol, then consider this: He was made a curse for us, redeeming us from the curse of the law. Galatians 3:13

It is good to remember what was accomplished by his death and resurrection. The Spirit of God was in the shell of the man Jesus as he was dying on the cross for us. God Himself was atoning for our sins and redeeming us from the original sin: the apostasy from Him, our Father in heaven.

The preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but for those of us which are saved it is the power of God. 1 Corinthians 1:18
