Checkboard floor pattern inside Mar-a-Lago

Marjorie Merriweather Post (once known as the richest woman in the US) and her husband Edward F. Hutton finished building
Mar-a-Lago in 1927. Marjorie accused her husband of adultery, which he denied. The couple was
divorced in 1935 and she kept the mansion. At her death, she left Mar-a-Lago to the US government, hoping it would be a
Winter White House. And it did become that decades later.
Donald Trump purchased Mar-a-Lago in 1985 from the Post Foundation and has lived there off and on with three different wives.
President Donald Trump now calls his Mar-a-Lago Club his "Winter White House."

In this newer, color photo, the checkerboard floor pattern remains visible.
Additional Note
I could not find Marjorie's own words stating that she wanted Mar-a-Lago to be used by presidents, but many websites claim she did.
Her will transferred the estate to the Federal government for use as a diplomatic/presidential retreat.
