No web browser, no Javascript, no cookies, no login, no tracking, no encryption.... Just plain text in a terminal connects to a powerful AI tool for free. This works on new as well as very old machines!
This tool is useful for many things, but today I am using it to translate an old German book to English.

Book title:
The Holy Trinity, as dictated to Franz Schumi ~ Received 12-22 February 1901
Here are two verses of the book, translated with AI over telnet, a message originally given by Jesus in the German language:
It is said in various places in my Gospel, given through Lorber, that I prayed to God and that I prepared myself through prayer. And again it is often said that one should not pray with lips alone; and that I, in prayer, through deep contemplation of God, united with God, so that it was as if I had not prayed, but only thought of God in love.
If I, as a sinless man, as God in human form, had not prayed with words, then that would have made sense, for then I would have worshipped Myself as God. But I was indeed a man like you in human form, as my childhood story teaches you. Read chapters 298 and 299! For there you will find that I not only prayed but even fasted. I actually prayed with words spoken in love to the Father. I spoke them in my heart, which is true, because they can be better expressed than with the lips. But in the family circle, where there are still young children, one must pray aloud, because otherwise the children do not pray and do not think of prayer, but of eating and playing. Dear children, if I spent three hours daily in prayer and silent contemplation of God, why do you not spend a quarter of an hour in prayer, and invent all kinds of excuses to avoid it? But your cleverness is an abomination to Me, and as I said, I will bring the wisdom of the wise to shame. It may happen to you that you will not come to the rebirth of the spirit for a long time, and that will be a shame for your cleverness. For man humbles himself through prayer before Me and sees Me for what I am: the inaccessible, most holy God, whom they seek to move, through love of the heart and humble prayer to the Father, to meet Him lovingly.

I used telnet a lot back in the day, but it is now depreciated and SSH is a much better option today.
My response....
SSH does offer advantages, for sure, in certain applications.
Telnet's advantages
Telnet, though, still has some advantages. It allows easy access to a public tool like the AI chat shown on this page. Telnet can offer an experience like you would have in a web browser, visiting a public web page without having to log in. Wouldn't that be cumbersome if you had to log in to every web page on the internet? SSH almost always requires some form of authentication, slowing down access to the content, and preventing it altogether if you do not have login credentials.
My open telnet server requires no login. This use of telnet is for content you
want the public to see.
Of course, we would not use telnet for private or financial transactions. But for sharing publicly available text, telnet is a useful protocol, consuming less bandwidth also.
Another advantage
Old machines, including Linux distributions, have telnet installed by default and could still function online with this protocol. In the early 2000s, Red Hat Linux and Windows XP machines had telnet installed by default. Those older computers cannot access most of today's web with their old browsers, but could connect to other machines running telnet. Today's internet has mostly broken older web browsers with new encryption. If more servers would offer telnet access, older hardware would become useful again online.
AI chat is a good use of telnet, if you are not saying anything you would not want others to see. But do not be deceived and think your communication with AI in any protocol is a secret. The corporations running AI can see everything in your conversations.
