This makes me appreciate
Saidit more, since that website has never suspended me nor kicked me out.
It was the only working Mastodon account I had, so for now I am blocked from posting anywhere on the Mastodon network. I realize I could look around for another server and ask the admin to let me in and start over.
The effect on free speech at Mastodon is worse than I expected if some admins choose to defederate an entire instance of the Mastodon network. If the admin has the power to block an entire server, that is effectively censorship.... and how could his users even know he did this unless he made an announcement? His users might be trapped in an information bubble and not even know it.
Another Saidit user,
neolib, revealed to me that the admin of a server could block an entire server.
